Uploading Videos: General Guidelines

General recommendations

There is no limit to the video size that you can upload to your profile though internet connectivity may prevent you from uploading a large file.

Adding by URL

Use this when the video is publicly available. The hosting service (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) must allow embedding and viewing on other sites — the URL can't be a private Dropbox file or anything requiring login.

Uploading a file

Most video formats are accepted (if it's not accepted you won't be able to select it from your device). There is no limit to the file size you can upload, but the bigger the file the longer it will take to upload. 

When you upload a file from a device, we recommend uploading a preview image (i.e video thumbnail, which will be visible when video is not played). 

Ensure you have permission from video creators to share the video on other websites, including Operabase. To credit video creators use the video description field.
