Artist video guidelines

General recommendations

There is no limit to the video size that you can upload to your profile though internet connectivity may prevent you from uploading a large file.

You can add video URL or upload an actual video file from your device:

Insert the weblink of the video:

This allows you to add a URL when the video is publicly available. The original video hosting service (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo etc.) settings should allow video embedding and viewing on other websites. Ensure that your video URL is not from a private dropbox file or one that requires a login.

Upload:

Most video formats are accepted (if it's not accepted you won't be able to select it from your device). There is no limit to the file size you can upload, but the bigger the file the longer it will take to upload.

When you upload a file from a device, we recommend uploading a preview image (i.e video thumbnail, which will be visible when video is not played).

Ensure you have permission from video creators to share the video on other websites, including Operabase. To credit video creators use the video description field.

FAQs

Why is there a video of someone else on my profile?

The images and videos that appear on your profile are from productions in which you have participated. Operabase auto-populates this section of your profile with either a video or photo from a production you were in. This is to avoid your profile being blank and is easily remedied.

Once you've logged in to your profile, you will need to select an image to be displayed as your profile photo and another photo to be displayed as your cover photo.

You have the option to add a video instead of a cover photo to be displayed across the top of your profile page. The video you select, needs to be added under the videos tab as an Intro showreel.

What’s the difference between an Intro showreel and an Audition showreel?

The intro showreel is fairly audience-oriented as this is the first thing they'll see when they visit your profile on the media widget. We recommend adding a highlight of a live performance or an engaging video that you'd like to showcase to the 3 million people visiting Operabase.

The audition showreel is more for professional users of Operabase. This is where you can demonstrate your range of performances and career goals by adding videos that showcase your abilities. These videos are displayed in our Casting Tool that has 10,000 searches per month as casting professionals from around the world look for artists for their current and future productions.

Industry professionals and artist managers have the ability to manage information on their Operabase profile. Please note that certain features are paid.
