 Step 1: Build a Strong, Complete Profile

Before reaching out to any agency, ensure your profile reflects your best professional self. Focus on:

Performance credits

Add all your performances, including supporting evidence where possible. Request Red Mask verification for verified productions — these carry more weight with industry professionals. See the Performance FAQs article for guidance.

Biography

Write a clear, professional biography. You can add versions in multiple languages.

Photos

Upload a professional profile photo and cover photo. These are the first things an agent sees when they click on your profile.

Videos

Add an intro showreel — this appears on the front of your public profile. Keep it current and representative of your work.

Repertoire and Future Repertoire

Your repertoire is automatically generated from your performance history. Review it and retire any roles you no longer perform. You can also add up to 5 roles to Future Repertoire to show casting professionals and agents what you are preparing or ready to debut.

Contact information

Make sure your contact details are up to date and set to the right visibility level. If you already have representation, add your agency here so casting professionals can reach the right person.

Step 2: Understand How Agents Use Operabase

Artist managers and agencies use Operabase to discover talent for their rosters. They search by voice type, repertoire, and more. When an agent searches for a mezzo-soprano with experience in a particular role, your profile appears in those results if your information is accurate and complete.

Agents also browse profiles directly and use the Casting Tool to see which artists are actively performing. Ensure you have a complete profile with verified (red mask) productions, current repertoire, and a strong showreel.

Step 3: Research Agencies on Operabase

You can use Operabase to research agencies and narrow your search by country/city.

No — we do not make personal recommendations or introductions between artists and agencies. Our role is to give both artists and agencies the tools and visibility they need to connect on their own terms.

I have contacted several agencies and received no response. Can Operabase help?

Unfortunately, we are not able to follow up with agencies on your behalf. The best thing you can do is ensure your Operabase profile is as strong as possible.

My agency representation on my profile is wrong. How do I fix it?

Go to Manage profile → Contact Information → Your agency & representation info. You can add, edit, or hide agency details there. If a former agency is incorrectly listed, you can use the visibility toggle to hide them, or contact us at contact@operabase.com if you need further assistance.
