# I'm Looking for an Agent, What Should I Do?
### **Step 1: build a strong, complete profile**
Before reaching out to any agency, make sure your profile reflects your best professional self.
- **Performance credits:** add all your performances, with supporting evidence where possible, and request Red Mask verification for verified productions, since these carry more weight with industry professionals.
- **Biography:** write a clear, professional biography, in multiple languages if you can.
- **Photos:** upload a professional profile photo and cover photo; these are the first things an agent sees when they open your profile. See our artist photo upload guidelines for specifications.
- **Videos:** add an intro showreel that is current and representative of your work; it appears on the front of your public profile.
- **Repertoire and Future Repertoire:** your repertoire is generated automatically from your performance history. Review it and retire any roles you no longer perform, and add up to five roles to Future Repertoire to show what you are preparing or ready to debut.
- **Contact information:** keep it up to date and set to the right visibility. If you already have representation, add your agency so casting professionals can reach the right person.
### **Step 2: understand how agents use Operabase**
Artist managers and agencies use Operabase to discover talent for their rosters, searching by voice type, repertoire and more. When an agent searches for, say, a mezzo-soprano with experience in a particular role, your profile appears in those results if your information is accurate and complete. Agents also browse profiles directly and use the Casting Tool to see which artists are actively performing, so a complete profile with verified productions, current repertoire and a strong showreel matters.
### **Step 3: research agencies on Operabase**
You can research agencies on Operabase and narrow your search by country or city. Operabase does not facilitate direct introductions between artists and agencies; finding and approaching representation is your own initiative.
### **Frequently asked questions**
#### **Can Operabase recommend an agent for me?**
No, we do not make personal recommendations or introductions between artists and agencies. Our role is to give both artists and agencies the tools and visibility they need to connect on their own terms.
#### **I've contacted several agencies and had no response. Can Operabase help?**
We are not able to follow up with agencies on your behalf. The best thing you can do is make sure your Operabase profile is as strong as possible.
#### **My agency representation on my profile is wrong. How do I fix it?**
Go to Manage profile, Contact Information, then your agency and representation info. You can add, edit or hide agency details there. If a former agency is incorrectly listed, use the visibility toggle to hide them, or contact [contact@operabase.com](mailto:contact@operabase.com) if you need further help.
