Performances & Tickets

Operabase is the world's most comprehensive database of opera and performing arts performances. You can search for upcoming and past productions anywhere in the world, filter by location, date, and work, and find ticket links directly from the performance listing.

Searching for Performances

How do I find upcoming performances?

To search for productions:

  • Go to www.operabase.com and click here
  • Use the search filters to narrow your results — you can filter by musical work, composer, artist, organisation, country, city, and date range
  • You do not need to fill in every field — start with what you know and add more filters to narrow the results
  • Click Search to see matching productions
  • Click on any production in the results to view the full cast, crew, performance dates, and venue details

How do I search across multiple countries?

Select each country individually using the country filter. When you add more than one country, you can use the AND / OR operator to control the results:

  • OR (default): shows results from any of the selected countries
  • AND: shows results that meet all other criteria across all selected countries

For example, to find upcoming performances of Don Giovanni in Italy or Spain, search for the work, set the date range to upcoming, and select Italy and Spain using OR.

Tickets

How do I buy tickets for a performance?

When a performance has tickets available, you will see a Tickets button on the production listing or production page. Click it to be redirected to the box office of the theatre, festival, or venue selling the tickets.

Please note: Operabase does not sell tickets directly. We display ticket links as provided by the producing organisation and redirect you to their box office to complete your purchase. All ticket availability, pricing, seating, and booking terms are managed entirely by the venue. Please confirm all details — including performance times and availability — directly with the box office before purchasing.

Operabase is not responsible for any issues arising from ticket transactions, including availability changes, cancellations, or refund policies. For any ticketing questions, please contact the venue or box office directly.

Why is there no Tickets button on a performance?

Not all performances have a ticketing link. This can be because:

  • The producing organisation has not added a ticket link to their Operabase listing
  • The performance is sold out and the box office has removed the link
  • Tickets are available at the door only

If you want to attend a performance with no ticket link, we recommend visiting the website of the producing organisation directly. You can find their website and contact details on their Operabase organisation page.

I clicked the Tickets button but I can't find availability. What should I do?

Operabase links you to the box office as provided by the producing organisation. If you cannot find availability on the page you are redirected to, or if the link appears broken, please contact the venue or box office directly — their contact details are usually listed on the production page or on their own website. Operabase is not able to check availability or assist with individual ticket purchases.

Performance Information

The cast or dates listed on a performance look incorrect. Who do I contact?

Performance information on Operabase is submitted by the producing organisation or by artists themselves. If you notice information that appears incorrect — such as wrong cast details or outdated dates, please email us on contact@operabase.com. Our team will review and update accordingly.

For urgent queries about a specific performance (e.g. a cancellation or cast change), please contact the theatre or organisation directly, as they will have the most up-to-date information.
