Artist Profile FAQs

Why do I need an Operabase profile?

The Operabase Casting tool lists over 120,000 verified artists and over 690,000 verified productions. This is viewed by casting / artistic directors and their teams. Each month, over 10,000 unique casting searches for roles are done on the Operabase Casting Tool. It is used for season planning as well as last minute replacements (jump ins). These casting searches are from opera companies, theatres, festivals and orchestras from around the world in over 31 languages.  (learn more about the Operabase Casting tool click here).

Your Artist profile on Operabase is a verified listing of your performance history, upcoming performances, repertoire and contact information (used by casting / artistic directors and artist managers / agencies to contact you). You can also present your future repertoire or ready to debut roles, retire roles you no longer wish to perform, present your videos, photos, reviews and biography. Moreover, Operabase is used by over 3.5 million people globally each year. This includes professionals (casting / artistic teams, artist managers / agencies, music labels and other performing arts professionals) and a global opera audience.

The audience members who use Operabase are some of the most dedicated opera lovers in the world.

How does a casting / artistic director find my contact information?

Casting professionals and artistic directors can easily find your agency information through the Operabase Casting Tool. When Casting teams click on the agency name on the Operabase Casting Tool, they are redirected to the agency page, where they can view the agency's office details, contact information, members of the team, and the agency representative and representation information for each artist.

Your agency representation and contact details are also visible on the Artist page when viewed from the Operabase Casting Tool. The information includes the agent representing you, their contact details and the representation information. If you do not have an agency, your contact information is displayed in the Casting Tool site on your profile.

Why are agency contact details important for casting professionals?

Casting directors and their teams rely on the Operabase Casting Tool for future production casting and last minute replacements (jump-ins). They need to contact the Artist or the Agent/agency representing the artist to discuss the opportunity with you.
