1. How do casting professionals or artistic directors find my profile? 


Casting professionals and artistic directors use the Operabase Casting Tool for season planning and last-minute replacements.

Ensure your profile is visible in the Casting Tool by:

  • Updating performances
  • Updating agency details
  • Keeping your Future Repertoire updated

2. In how many languages is my profile available in?

Operabase translates your profile into 31+ languages for global visibility with casting and artistic directors worldwide.

3. How can I access, update and customise my profile on Operabase? 

To get access and update your profile on Operabase, follow the steps below: 

  • Register on Operabase and complete the registration process
  • Provide details: Enter your profile name and required information during registration
  • Verify your account: Complete the identity verification to gain editing access to your profile
  • Claim your profile: If a profile matching your details exists on Operabase, you can claim the profile and take ownership of the profile to make updates and changes

4. What can I customise on Operabase? 


Customise your Operabase profile and showcase your profile the way you want by using SHOW/HIDE on:

  • Repertoire on Overview Tab
  • Agency Representation Details on the Overview Tab
  • Artists You Have Worked With
  • Organisations You Have Worked With
  • Venues You Have Performed At

 → How can I customise my profile?

  1. Login to your account
  2. Click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  3. Go to the “Overview & Insights” tab → Scroll to “Customise your profile” section
  4. Select what you’d like to SHOW/HIDE

5. Why do I need to add Future Repertoire? 

Future Repertoire provides reference to casting professionals and artistic administrators on your desired future works or roles. You can add up to 5 works or roles in Future Repertoire that you would like to perform which you have either prepared or unprepared.

To add Future Repertoire, follow the steps below: 

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Repertoire” tab
  • Click on “Add Future Repertoire” 
  • Insert details of musical works or roles that you would like to perform

6. Why do I need to Request Red Mask for my performances? 

Red Mask helps you to verify performances on Operabase that will be listed on the Casting Tool. Operabase endeavours to provide verified and accurate information to casting professionals and artistic administrators. 

By requesting a Red Mask, you will provide proof of your participation. 

→ How can I request Red Mask? 

To request a Red Mask, follow the steps below: 

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Performance credits” tab
  • Click on the “Published: grey mask” filter
  • Search for the production by typing its name in the search bar
  • Click on "Request red mask" once you’ve located the production
  • Upload the necessary documentation to support your participation
  • Submit the Red Mask request

7. Why don’t I see a photo or video on my public overview page? 

Your profile photo, cover photo and the 1st Intro showreel appear on the public overview. Please check if you have added them by clicking on Edit.

To add a profile photo:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Profile info” tab
  • Click on “Edit” on the “Profile photo” section 
  • Upload a photo from your device and click “Add”
  • Refer to our photo guidelines article for photo specifications

→ How can I add a cover photo?

To add a cover photo:

  • Go to the “Profile info” tab
  • Click “Add cover photo” on the “Cover photo” section
  • Upload a photo from your device and click “Add”
  • Use the checkbox to mark the cover photo to be shown on the media widget
  • Refer to our photo guidelines article for photo specifications

→ How can I update photos and videos on my media widget?

To update your photos and videos on the media widget:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • To add a cover photo:
    • Go to the “Profile info” tab
    • Click “Add cover photo” on the “Cover photo” section
    • Upload a photo from your device and click “Add”
    • Use the checkbox to mark the cover photo to be shown on the media widget
    • Refer to our photo guidelines article for photo specifications
  • To add Intro showreels:
    • Go to the “Videos” tab
    • Click “Add video” on the “Intro showreel” section
    • Upload a video from your device or paste a URL and click “Add”
    • Make sure you SHOW the intro showreel (The 1st intro showreel will be marked as a the cover video) 

Why don’t I see a video on my media widget on the overview page?

If you want a video to be displayed on your media widget on the overview page, you will need to make sure that you have uploaded a video to your Intro Showreel and marked it to SHOW. You can follow the steps below:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Videos” tab
  • Click “Add video” on the “Intro showreel” section
  • Upload a video from your device or paste a URL and click “Add”
  • Make sure you SHOW the intro showreel (The 1st intro showreel will be marked as a the cover video) 

How do I add a thumbnail image for a video on my profile?

To add a thumbnail for a video that is on your profile:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Videos” tab
  • Click “Add video” on the “Intro showreel” section
  • Upload a video from your device or paste a URL and click “Add”
  • Make sure you SHOW the intro showreel (The 1st intro showreel will be marked as a the cover video) 
  • Refer to our video guidelines article for video specifications.

8. Why do I need to add an agency representation or contact information? 

The Casting Tool provides details about the role you have played along with the contact and agency details. This helps casting professionals and Artistic administrators to easily connect with you and your agents. 

→ How can I add agency representation to my profile?

Important: Agency representation details are shown on the Casting Tool. 

To add your agency representation details to your profile, follow these steps:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Representation & Contact” tab
  • Scroll down to “Your agency & representation info” 
  • Click “Add agency” and enter the details of the agency as well as the representation details.

Please note that in order for the agency to be visible on your profile, you'll need to request your agency to confirm that they represent you.

Customisation feature for artist: 

  • Agency representation details can be shown or hidden using the customisation feature 

→ Can I add multiple agencies to my profile?

Yes, you can add multiple agencies to your profile. They will need to confirm that they represent you via their page. 

Follow the steps below to add an agency to your profile:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Representation & Contact” tab
  • Scroll down to “Your agency & representation info” 
  • Click “Add agency” and enter the details of the agency as well as the representation details.

Remember to keep this information updated, as casting professionals using the Operabase Casting Tool use it to contact artists/agencies when season planning and looking for last-minute replacements.

→ How do I add contact information to my Operabase profile?

To add your contact information to your profile, follow the steps below:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Representation & Contact” tab
  • Add your contact information (email and phone number)
  • You can set the visibility by using the “Visibility" button

9. What do the Tickets and Watch Options buttons do?

The “Tickets “ and “Watch Options” buttons help audiences seamlessly discover your upcoming performances:

  • Tickets: purchase tickets for upcoming shows
  • Watch Options: provides access to livestreams or video-on-demand links on your profile

10. What is the difference between Performance Credits and Upcoming performances?

Performance Credits displays a comprehensive list of all your past, present, and future performances, giving an overview of your artistic journey.

Upcoming Performances specifically showcases details of your upcoming performances, including ticket links and watch options, if available.

11. How do I add performances to show under performance credits or upcoming performances? 

To add a performance to your profile:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Performance credits” tab
  • Search for the production by typing its name in the search bar. Operabase has documented all performances since 1996. Make sure to check if the production / musical work has already been documented. 
  • If the production is not found, you can add yourself to an existing production:
    • Click “Add Production” 
    • Follow the steps to add the production
    • Refer to our help article on adding a production here

12. Why are some roles missing from my repertoire?

Some roles may be missing if they haven't been added to your performed productions. Make sure to add the production to your schedule, not in the drafts folder, and ensure it has dates selected.

→  How can I add Repertoire to my profile? 

If a performed role is missing from your repertoire, follow these steps:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Performance credits” tab
  • Search for the production by typing its name in the search bar.
  • If the production is not found, you will need to add the production
  • If you want to add a role that you haven’t performed or would like to perform in future, you’ll need to add it to Future Repertoire
  • If the production is listed on your profile, check the following:
    • The production is added to your schedule,
    • The production is not in drafts,
    • The production is published,
    • The production is not hidden,
    • The production is not marked as cancelled,
    • Dates are added to production,
    • Your correct Artist profile is added as a part of the cast in the correct role (if you have a duplicate profile, please email us so we can merge them)
    • Your performance dates are specified in the Cast & Crew section of the production edit 

13. Why do I need to add a biography?

Adding a biography allows people to learn more about you. It includes your name, voice type, and can be edited in multiple languages using the "Edit" feature to reach a wider audience on Operabase.

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Biography” tab
  • Click on “Add biography”
  • You can add a biography in multiple languages by selecting the language dropdown. 

14. Why do I need to add my social media links to my profile?

Adding your social media links allows people to get to know you better and follow you on social media platforms.

To add your social media link to your profile, follow the steps below:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Digital presence” tab
  • In this section you can add your social media links and other web presence

15. What is Future Repertoire?

This section allows you to highlight up to 5 works or roles that can be a combination of prepared (ready to debut) and unprepared roles to help you highlight the direction you wish your career to progress

16. How do I update my Repertoire?

Your repertoire is auto-generated from your performance history. You have several options available to manage your repertoire: 

To SHOW/HIDE, follow the steps below:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Overview & Insights” tab
  • Scroll down to “Customise your profile”
  • Click on SHOW/HIDE on the  “Repertoire shown on your profile overview” 

To mark a role as retired or active, follow the steps below:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Repertoire” tab
  • Under the repertoire section, select the dropdown arrow and select “Active” or “Retired”

Please note that all auto-generated repertoire entries are set as “Active” and you can manage the visibility setting for each entry.

17. How can I view details on upcoming performances?

To view details on an upcoming performance:

  • Click on the production to view more details on the production
  • You can view details on the producer, conductor, director, dates, cast, crew and ensemble information
  • To see more details on the particular performance, click on the dates and you will be redirected to the production on Operabase where you can view the programme, synopsis, photos, videos and more.
  • Clicking on the “Tickets” button will redirect to the box office

18. How can I filter upcoming performance dates?

To filter upcoming performance dates:

  • Use the filters on the left-hand side to narrow your search by genre, location, organisation, venue, composers, musical works, language and more.

19. Can I request red masks for my performances?

Yes, however, the request Red Mask feature is available for annual subscribers only. 

To request a Red Mask, follow these steps:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Performance credits” tab
  • Search for the production by typing its name in the search bar
  • Once you’ve located the production, click on "Request red mask."
  • Upload the necessary documentation to support your validation request.
  • Submit the Red Mask request

20. How do I hide the other artists showing on the top of my profile?

To hide the "Explore Artists" section from the top of your profile, follow these steps:

  • Login and click on “Edit” on your Operabase profile
  • Go to the “Overview & Insights” tab
  • Scroll to the “Customise your profile” section
  • Click HIDE on the “Explore artists from top of your profile” (this will move the section to the bottom of your profile).
